While hair-stretching techniques have saturated the natural hair conversation, helping us achieve our hairstyle goals, there are still many naturalistas who don’t know where to begin.
We’re going to break down how you can easily fight shrinkage, and get amazing results with our Au Naturale products.
Step 1: Know Your Curl Type
The first step to fighting shrinkage is understanding your curl type. Once you’ve figured out your curl pattern, you can then figure out how to accurately stretch your hair and the products best for you.
Step 2: Get the Right Products
Women with tightly coiled, 4A to 4C hair will see effective stretching results with the Au Naturale Coil Moisturizing Soufflé. After applying the product, your best bet is to create large sections of two-strand twists and let your hair dry fully. Extend your roots with a blow dryer for added volume!
If you are rocking a defined 3A to 3C curl, using the Au Naturale Curl Defining Crème Glaze to two-strand twist your hair in large sections. This will define your curl pattern even more and achieve optimum length.
A looser curl, like a 2C pattern, will see stretched out curls with the Au Naturale Easy Twist Gel ‘N’ Butter. You’ll want to section your hair and add the gel in evenly. Afterwards, pull your hair back with a headband, and allow your hair to dry fully. They can also achieve well-defined 2 strand twist outs, using this product.
